Discussion on modernization of Noakhali Town Hall

A meeting was held to exchange views with the aim of expanding the scope of various activities, including cultural practices, social and public awareness activities, meetings and seminars, and modernizing the institution at Noakhali Town Hall.
The meeting was held at the Noakhali Town Hall Auditorium on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was chaired by Town Hall President and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shafiqul Islam and moderated by Town Hall General Secretary Firoz Alam Matinon. Noakhali-4 MP Md. Shahjahan spoke as the chief guest.
Noakhali District Council Administrator Harunur Rashid Azad, Additional Superintendent of Police Ahmed Payar and District BNP Convener Mahbub Alamgir Alo spoke as special guests at the meeting.
Senior member of Noakhali Town Hall Gias Uddin Ahmed Selim, heroic freedom fighter Mia Md. Shahjahan, businessman Golam Jilani Didar, Md. Ismail Hossain, president of Noakhali Super Market Ikram Ullah Deputy, former commissioner Delwar Hossain, along with political, social and cultural leaders, heroic freedom fighters, teachers, journalists and representatives of civil society were present at the meeting.
Speakers at the meeting said that Noakhali Town Hall was once known as one of the hearths and hubs of political, social and cultural activities in the region. Over time, the activities of the Town Hall have become stagnant. As a result, initiatives have been taken to restore the institution's heritage and make its activities more dynamic and modern.
The speakers also said that the Town Hall should be built as an effective and modern cultural-social center, rising above party affiliations. To this end, initiatives will be taken to form a new committee and construct a multi-storey building with modern facilities soon. They expressed hope that this will create a wider range of cultural, social and civic activities in Noakhali.
