 State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, MP, has stated that the government has a long-term and integrated plan to stop the use of illegal arms and restore peace to the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region. 

He emphasized that permanent resolution of conflicts cannot be achieved solely through immediate operations by law enforcement agencies, noting that the government's primary goal is to eradicate darkness from society through education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and employment generation.

The State Minister made these remarks while addressing journalists following a special meeting on law and order, anti-corruption and drug control, ensuring good governance, transparency in Rangamati on Wednesday. 

State Minister Barrister Mir Helal Uddin, MP, stressed that dispatching police, BGB, or Army personnel to recover a few weapons following gunfights is not a sustainable solution. 

Highlighting a multi-pronged strategy, Barrister Mir Helal noted that permanent transformation cannot happen overnight and that the government is advancing through a holistic legal, social, educational, and economic approach. 

Presided over by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Najma Ashrafy, the meeting was attended by Rangamati Member of Parliament Dipen Dewan, Rangamati Region Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Nazmul Haq PSC, newly appointed Chairman of Rangamati Hill District Council Dipan Talukder Dipu, Superintendent of Police Md. Abdur Rokib PPM, Additional District Magistrate Nishat Sharmin, alongside leaders from the district BNP and civil society.
