IsDB eager to partner in Bangladesh's infrastructure development

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has expressed keen interest in strengthening cooperation to support Bangladesh's transport and infrastructure development, with both sides optimistic about identifying new avenues for mutual collaboration across road, rail, and waterway sectors.
The discussions took place during a courtesy meeting between Sheikh Rabiul Alam, MP, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, and an IsDB delegation led by IsDB Group Chairman H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al Jasser at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.
Highlighting the nation's infrastructure priorities, Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam noted that the current government considers advanced, safe, and sustainable transport networks essential to accelerating economic growth. He emphasized that the government is expanding integrated regional and international connectivity through road, rail, and maritime routes.
Lauding Bangladesh's development trajectory, IsDB Group Chairman Dr. Mohammad Al Jasser highlighted the country's bright economic prospects and strategic geographical position.
Both parties expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening the development partnership between Bangladesh and the IsDB. Senior ministry officials, including Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, were also present during the discussion.
