A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Accounting and Information Systems Department of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur and the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) for mutual cooperation, exchange of knowledge and skills, student development and expansion of industry-education linkages.

The signing ceremony held at the Syndicate Meeting Room of the university on Wednesday was attended as the chief guest by the Vice Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Prof Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali. Umar Farooq, Head of the Accounting and Information Systems Department and Emdadul Hossain, President of RCCI, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali, in his speech, laid special emphasis on the joint cooperation between academia and industry and said that it is the demand of the hour to provide practical and technology-based education to students, not just by limiting them to textbook knowledge. He said that this cooperation with Rangpur Chamber will play an important role in developing the skills of students and creating employment opportunities. Such cooperation between the university and the industry sector will be further expanded in the future.

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Prof Dr. Md. Nur Alam Siddique, Controller of Examinations (Acting) Prof Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain, Professor of the Accounting and Information Systems Department Dr. Apel Mahmud, Associate Prof Md. Amir Sharif, Associate Prof Md. Shahinur Rahman, Associate Prof Muhammad Ashrafuzzaman, Assistant Prof Md. Russell Uddin, Assistant Professor Fahimul Quader Siddique, Assistant Prof Sharifa Akhter Nipa, Lecturer Md. Sobhan Ali, students of the department, RCCI Director Rashidul Sultan Bablu, Director Kamal Hossain, Acting Secretary Golam Mostafa and other concerned persons.

The university's Accounting and Information Systems Department said that through this agreement, an effective bridge will be created between the education and industry sectors and students will get the opportunity to prepare themselves more efficiently in the professional field.
