Two drug dealers arrested with yaba worth Tk 20 m in Gopalganj

The District Detective Branch (DB) of Gopalganj has arrested two drug dealers with 64,123 pieces of Yaba in a special operation in Gopalganj. A Noah microbus used for drug transportation and cash from drug sales were also seized.
According to police sources, a special operation was conducted at Nabinbagh in the LGED intersection area of Gopalganj city on Tuesday. from 12 midnight as part of a secret information. The operation, led by ASP (Crime and Ops) Md. Hasanur Rahman and DB Officer-in-Charge Nayan Chandra Debnath, resulted in the arrest of two drug dealers along with a vehicle.
Later, a total of 64,123 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from their bodies and the suitcases they were carrying. The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba is Tk 19,236,900, according to the police.
In addition, 455,055 taka in cash from drug sales was recovered during the operation. The estimated market value of the seized Noah microbus is 4.4 million taka.
Police said preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees under the Narcotics Control Act.
Gopalganj District Police informed that in light of the current government's anti-drug policy and as per the instructions of the police headquarters and Dhaka Range, regular check posts, mobile patrolling and special operations are being conducted in the district.
