The government has reconstituted the interim council of Khagrachhari Hill District Council. Mrasa Thoai Marma has been appointed as the chairman of the new council. At the same time, the council has been reconstituted with 14 members.

This information was given in a notification issued by the Parishad-1 branch of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs on Thursday.

According to the notification, the government has reconstituted this interim council under the powers conferred by the Khagrachari Hill District Council Act, 1989 and the related amendment acts.

The new council chairman is Mrasa Thoai Marma, a resident of Upper Perachhara area of Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila. The members are—Ripol Chakma, Shanti Priyo Chakma, Dev Rani Chakma, Md. Nurul Absar, Md. A. Malek, Mosharraf Hossain, Khetra Mohan Roaja, Khoni Ranjan Tripura, Narayan Tripura, Rumel Marma, Mongasapru Chowdhury, Kari Mag, Taslima Siraj Sima and Kuheli Dewan.

The notification states that until further orders are issued, the reconstituted interim council will perform all the duties of the council in accordance with the provisions of the Khagrachari Hill District Council Act, 1989 and all its amendments.

Meanwhile, the previous council formed through a notification issued on November 7, 2024, has been cancelled. In addition, the appointment of Shefalika Tripura, who was appointed as the temporary chairman on July 8, 2025, has also been cancelled.

The notification states that this order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.

The formation of a new interim council marked the beginning of new leadership in the administrative activities of the Khagrachari Hill District Council.
