Dr Moniruzzaman appointed DC in Gaibandha

Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate of Gaibandha.
The appointment was confirmed through a recent notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, creating new expectations among administrative circles and residents of the district.
According to a gazette notification signed by Md. Nur-E-Alam, Deputy Secretary of the Field Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, on the night of Wednesday.
Dr. Moniruzzaman has been appointed as the DC and District Magistrate of Gaibandha by transfer. He was previously serving as the Personal Secretary (PS) to the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
Earlier, on Tuesday, a separate notification withdrew the then DC of Gaibandha, Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla.
Administrative sources said, the post of DC in Gaibandha has witnessed several changes in recent years. Chowdhury Moazzem Ahmed served as DC until November 2025.
Later, on November 8 of the same year, Muhammad Nazrul Islam was appointed as DC of Gaibandha. However, before joining the district, he was transferred to the Power Division as Deputy Secretary on November 13. Subsequently, on November 14, the Ministry of Public Administration appointed Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla as the DC of Gaibandha.
Local residents and stakeholders expect that the newly appointed DC Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman, will play a significant role in strengthening good governance, accelerating development activities and improving public services.
