Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Professor Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi met with Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam at his office on Wednesday.

Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka, Mahdi Moulayi Arani, accompanied him.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest. They exchanged views on various issues, including the ongoing joint collaborative education and research activities between Dhaka University and various universities in Iran and the possibility of strengthening language and cultural exchange activities.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam said that Bangladesh and Iran have enjoyed a wonderful historical, social, educational and cultural relationship and bond for many years. He expressed hope that this friendly relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened through various academic and cultural activities in the coming days.

Iranian Ambassador Professor Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi expressed interest in appointing Iranian professors in various departments and institutes of Dhaka University in collaboration with the Iranian Ministry of Science and Technology to enhance education and research cooperation.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam addressed the function as the chief guest. Chaired by Dhaka University Persian Language and Literature Department Chairman Dr. Md. Mumit Al Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar and Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka Mahdi Moulayi Arani spoke as special guests. Convener of the organizing committee Prof Dr. K. M. Saiful Islam Khan delivered the welcome address and Member Secretary Mehedi Hasan proposed the vote of thanks.
