Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Jagannath Hall Union jointly organized a day-long special program titled "After the Sea of Death, Your Memories Will Be Immortal" on Wednesday marking Dhaka University Mourning Day. The event was organized to pay deep tribute to the countless students, staff and guests who lost their lives in the tragic accident that took place at Jagannath Hall on that night in 1985 .

The programs organized at Jagannath Hall included art camp, Barwari debate and quiz competition. Various paintings related to the October tragedy were exhibited in the program. In addition, the blood group of the students was also determined by the initiative of the voluntary blood donation organization Badhan.

The day-long event concluded with the award distribution ceremony at 7:30 pm. Speaking as the chief guest at the award distribution ceremony, DUCSU's Literature and Cultural Secretary said, "Literary and cultural events centered on the October tragedy are not often seen in such a large scale. Here, scenes of the tragedy have been depicted by artists. These will make people aware that no more tragedies will happen due to mismanagement. We do not want to see another October tragedy." He promised DUCSU's cooperation in all fields, including the literary and cultural fields, and thanked the Jagannath Hall Student Union for their cooperation in this creative event.

The 26 winners of the competition were presented with gifts of Tk 1,000 each by DUCSU Vice President (VP) Sadiq Kayem, General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad, and Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Muh. Mohiuddin Khan.

The award distribution ceremony was presided over by GS Sudipto Prathani of Jagannath Hall Student Union. Moderated by Literary Editor Kathak Roy Biswas, the event was also addressed by Cultural Editor Ratul De Dipto, Athenaeum Debating Club President Iffa Assariah, Jagannath Hall Debate Club President and Organizing Sub-Committee Convener Kishloy Roy Swachh.
