Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) has called for the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, along with the officials of the military, police and intelligence agencies for their alleged roles in enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings during the previous Awami League regime.
In a statement signed by JUCSU GS Mazharul Islam issued on Saturday expressed concern saying, “Despite the issuance of arrest warrants by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against several army personnel accused of crimes against humanity, none have yet been detained.”
As per the statement, “Officers from intelligence agencies were also directly involved in crimes against humanity under the direction of Sheikh Hasina.”
“Failure to ensure justice for those directly involved in these crimes will mark a retreat from the pursuit of fairness and may once again pave the way for the political misuse of state institutions,” JUCSU warned.
