AL royalists staged sit-in in Dhaka demanding abolition of Barishal Sadar Upazila Committee
Masud Rana, Barishal
Having failed in their field-level movement against the new committee declared as the center of Barisal Sadar Upazila BNP, a group of Awami League supporters who campaigned for boat markers during the Awami League government have gathered in front of the BNP chairman's office in Gulshan, Dhaka, after failing in their field-level movement against the new committee declared as the center of Barishal Sadar Upazila BNP.
Those who were not found on the streets in any movement or struggle during the last 17 years of the fascist government are now trying to create chaos with innovative tactics, demanding that they be evaluated as 'renegade leaders'.
Last Saturday around 4 pm, a group of people started a mischievous act by taking a position on the road where national leader Tarique Rahman was travelling, but the immediate action of the law enforcement agencies thwarted it. Policymakers at the party's Gulshan office have expressed extreme anger over the incident.
The investigation revealed that the political past of those leading the sit-in in Gulshan is extremely controversial and full of partisan activities.
Md. Abdus Salam Rari: Former Charmonai Union Chairman and former senior joint convener. During the fascist Awami regime, he disobeyed the party's decision and accepted government benefits, and also openly held processions and meetings in favor of the boat marker candidate in the Union Parishad elections. Abdus Salam Rari, who shook the field with this slogan, "Take the salute of Salam Rari, vote for the boat marker," is now suddenly desperate to avoid expulsion and grab his position by pretending to be a BNP lover.
Reza Rari: This former student leader had openly campaigned for the Awami League chairman candidate in Charmonai Union. Having covered up his act during the entire term of the previous government, he is now trying to prove himself a big-time party loyalist.
Disguised student leader: Another person leading the program wants to claim office by introducing himself as a former student leader of Dhaka University, even though he had no role in the intense street struggle of the past 17 years. He worked in a garment buying house.
Grassroots demands and organizational pressure
Extreme dissatisfaction has spread among local leaders and activists at all levels over how those who, during the fascist era, sacrificed party interests and raised slogans for the boat and took a stand against the party's principles and ideals, are now taking a stand in front of the BNP's policy-making office.
According to political analysts and grassroots activists, these opportunists were sent to Dhaka to damage the BNP and create chaos. To maintain the party's discipline and restore its image:
It is necessary to permanently expel identified extreme party traitors Abdus Salam Rari and Reza Rari from the party.
Grassroots pressure is increasing on the current convener, member secretary and joint convener of Sadar Upazila BNP to take strict organizational action against these opportunists.
However, the current committee leadership has made it clear that no hypocrites implementing the Awami League agenda will be spared and they will be dealt with decisively, politically and organizationally.
