Md. Mafiz Uddin Sarker, Rangpur
A huge long march of lakhs of people from Dhaka to Rangpur will be held on September 19. To make this long march a success, a preparatory meeting was held at the Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur Metropolitan Office on Saturday afternoon, with the regional officials of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur-Dinajpur region. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Assistant Secretary General and Rangpur Dinajpur Region Director Maulana Abdul Halim was the chief guest.
Maulana Halim said that the huge long march of lakhs of people from Dhaka to Rangpur on the 6-point demands of 11 parties including Jamaat will start from Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka at 7 am that day. Then, a huge public meeting will be held at Rangpur Zilla School Ground at night via Gazipur, Tangail, Sirajganj, Bogra, Gaibandha. Separate road meetings will be held at important places in those districts on the way. Leaders of 11 parties including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, freedom fighters Colonel Oli Ahmed, Maulana Mominul Haque, Nahid Islam MP and others will speak at these road meetings and public meetings.
At this time, Maulana Abdul Halim said - Jamaat-e-Islami will play the role of a responsible opposition party in the parliament to build a just Bangladesh. If the government does good work, it will provide constructive cooperation and will constructively oppose works that are against the public interest. The government's failures are heavier than their achievements in the last 6 months. Due to party politics and fascist upbringing, public life has become difficult due to severe fertilizer shortages, gas shortages, electricity shortages, and fuel shortages across the country. Among these, people are terrified by the extreme deterioration of the law and order situation including murder, rape, kidnapping, theft, robbery and extortion.
He said, the government has broken the promise it made to the nation before the election to build a humane Bangladesh free of discrimination and terrorism, after coming to power. It has removed government officials from various government and semi-government autonomous institutions including district councils, city corporations, and municipalities and made party leaders who were elected and defeated in various elections as chairmen and administrators. BNP had promised the nation to implement the July Charter. They have not implemented that promise even today. They are denying the parliament and referendum in the same ordinance of the President today. Therefore, we are agitating to keep the July Charter intact and implement it according to the election promise for its implementation. One of the demands of this movement is to implement the people's referendum according to the July Charter, and as part of this movement, a huge long march of millions of people will be held from Dhaka to Chittagong on September 5 and from Dhaka to Rangpur on September 19 at the call of 11 parties. All the countrymen will have to cooperate and participate to make this long march successful. He said, the government has deceived the people by not approving the ordinances on the fulfillment of the people's aspirations of the mass uprising, independent judiciary, human rights and disappearances in parliament.
The regional responsible preparatory meeting was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Working Committee member and Rangpur-Dinajpur region assistant regional director Principal Maulana Momtaz Uddin, Rangpur-Dinajpur region team members Muhammad Abdur Rashid and Maulana Abdul Hakim, Central Working Committee member and Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-Principal Maulana ATM Azom Khan, Metropolitan Secretary KM Anwarul Haque Kajal, Rangpur District Secretary Maulana Enamul Haque, Nilphamari District Ameer Maulana Abdus Sattar MP and Secretary Maulana Amtazul Islam, Panchagarh District Ameer Mohammad Iqbal Hossain and Secretary Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Thakurgaon District Ameer Professor Belal Uddin Pradhan and Secretary Mohammad Alamgir, Dinajpur District Ameer Principal Mohammad Anisur Rahman and Secretary Muhaddis Dr. Enamul Haque, Gaibandha District Ameer Mohammad Abdul Karim Sarker MP and Acting Secretary Syed Roknuzzaman, Kurigram District Ameer Principal Azizur Rahman Sarker and Acting Secretary Abdul Hamid and Lalmonirhat District Ameer Advocate Abdul Baten and Secretary Advocate Firoz Haider Lavlu, Women's Regional Director Rozina Begum Rozi, District Women's Division Secretary Afroza Begum, Metropolitan Women's Division Secretary Siddika Khatun Bithi, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Rangpur Sahanagar President Anisur Rahman, Begum Rokeya University Branch President Abdur Rakib, Secretary Imran Khan were present among others.

The 24-year revolution that was achieved at the expense of the blood of students and the public must be completed by implementing the July Charter.”
