UGC hosts two-day policy dialogue with VCs to transform higher education

The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh will host a two-day national policy dialogue starting August 21, 2026, at BRAC CDM, Savar. Organised under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, the event aims to improve quality standards, strengthen strategic leadership, and foster good governance across universities.
Presided over by UGC Chairman Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed, the dialogue will bring together 60 vice-chancellors from public and private universities, alongside policymakers, government officials, and academic experts.
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, and Prime Minister’s Education Advisor Dr. Mahdi Amin will join a policy exchange session on day one. Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, MP, will attend the concluding session on August 22
Discussions will focus on strategic leadership, curriculum reform, teaching excellence, research innovation, financial management, university-industry collaboration, and adapting to artificial intelligence and evolving labor market demands.
