Tk. 10 lakh trust fund established to award scholarships to DU’s talented athletes

A new trust fund titled ‘Dr. Salma Arju Sports Trust Fund’ has been established to provide scholarships to underprivileged yet talented athletes studying at the University of Dhaka.
To create this trust fund, Dr. Salma Arju, Deputy Director of the Dhaka University Physical Education Centre, handed over a cheque of Tk. 10 lakh to Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, today, Wednesday.
The cheque handover ceremony took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, where Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and members of the donor’s family were present.
The annual income from this trust fund will be used to award scholarships to four underprivileged yet talented undergraduate athletes, currently in their 1st and 2nd year of study at the University of Dhaka.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan expressed his gratitude to the donor for establishing the trust fund and hoped that this initiative would greatly benefit the university’s underprivileged yet promising athletes.
