Locals demand speedy completion of work on Hilsa Chattar in Chandpur

Vehicle drivers and passengers are constantly suffering due to the slow pace of the road renovation work at the Hilsa Chattar intersection, the entrance to Chandpur city.

As the renovation work that started about a month and a half ago has not been completed, the potholes created in the extended part of the square are filling with rainwater, creating the risk of accidents.

Local drivers and pedestrians complain that although the renovation work has started, the road has now become an accident-prone area due to the lack of proper planning and speed of work. Especially during the rains, the actual location of the road is not clear as the potholes are covered with water, which is creating a serious risk.

In this regard, locals have demanded the speedy completion of the renovation work and keeping the road operational. They said, “Hilsa Chattar is the main entrance to the city, such suffering for a long time is unacceptable.”

Local transport workers and ordinary citizens have demanded quick action from the Chandpur Municipality Administrator and the concerned authorities.

Chandpur Municipality Deputy Assistant Engineer (Civil) Dilip Kumar Dey said, "A truck accident occurred due to the accidental lack of protection during the ongoing work at Hilsa Chattar. We express our regret and protection will be arranged today itself.

There were some complications in the road work due to which the work was delayed a little. We have already made preparations and the work will be completed soon."
