A prayer and discussion meeting was held at Gopalganj Press Club seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of late journalist Mahbub Hossain Sarmat, Staff Reporter of NTV and Gopalganj Correspondent of the daily Amar Desh on Saturday afternoon with Gopalganj Press Club President Jubair Hossain in the chair and it was conducted by Joyanta Shiralie, journalist of Somoy Television.
Acting General Secretary of the Press Club and Staff Reporter of Dainik Tritiyo Matra Shariful Islam, Bangladesh Pratidin Correspondent Shahinul Islam, senior journalist and poet Rabindranath Adhikari, ATN Bangla journalist Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud, journalist Mizanur Rahman Manik, Prothom Alo Correspondent Natun Sheikh, My TV journalist Ariful Haque Arif, Nagorik TV Correspondent Ashik Zaman Abhi, and Mohona TV District Correspondent Masud Parve spoke.
The journalists fondly remembered late Sarmat and expressed their commitment to stand by his family. Later, a special prayer and munajat were held for the forgiveness of his soul.
Earlier in the afternoon, after the janaza prayer at Gopalganj Alia Madrasa, he was laid to rest at municipal cemetery.
