The Narayanganj City Corporation has launched a typhoid vaccination campaign targeting over 200,000 children this year. The program was formally inaugurated on Sunday morning by the City Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Md. Zakir Hossain.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Imperial International School in Isdair, with the City Corporation’s Medical Officer, Dr. Nafiya Islam, presiding over the event. Among others present were the school’s Principal, Salina A. Chowdhury, and the City Corporation’s Immunization Officer, Nasir Uddin.

Chief Guest Md. Zakir Hossain emphasized the importance of this free vaccination initiative provided by the government. “The typhoid vaccine is extremely important for children’s health. The vaccination drive will continue in schools for the next ten days. Parents should come forward and actively participate in this vital health campaign,” he said.

To mark the inauguration, Dr. Nafiya Islam began the program by vaccinating her own child, assuring that the typhoid vaccine is completely safe. “There are many misconceptions about vaccines, but these are unfounded,” she said.

According to City Corporation sources, a total of 215,000 children will receive the typhoid vaccine under this program. The campaign will continue for 10 working days in schools, followed by another 8 days at permanent vaccination centers.
