Jamaat submits memo to Bandarban DC with 5-point demands including elections thru' PR system

Bandarban Jamaat-e-Islami has submitted a memorandum to the District Commissioner seeking to provide a legal basis for the July National Charter and implement five demands, including elections through the PR system.
On Sunday morning, the memorandum was submitted to Additional District Commissioner Abu Taleb by Bandarban Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer SM Abdus Salam Azad, Nayeb Ameer Abul Kalam Azad and other leaders and activists of the organization.
Earlier, a procession was taken out from in front of the Bandarban Central Jama Masjid. The procession circled the main roads of the city and ended in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office. At a discussion meeting there, Jamaat Islami Bandarban District Branch Ameer SM Abdus Salam Azad said, if elections can be held in other countries through the PR system, what is the problem with holding elections in Bangladesh through the PR system. He said, a party is trying to cancel the July Charter. If the July Charter is not implemented, the blood of our brothers and sisters will be betrayed. Therefore, he demanded ensuring the legal basis of the July Charter, holding national elections through the PR system, implementing a level playing field in the elections, trial of the July genocide and trial of the accomplices of fascism and banning them during the trial.
Leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami's Bandarban branch were present at the time.
