A devastating fire broke out at Ayesha Garments, a ready-made garment factory in the Jamgara area of Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka. The incident occurred on Monday on the Tongi–Ashulia Road, opposite Fantasy Kingdom.
Receiving the news, nine units from the Jirabo and DEPZ Fire Service rushed to the scene and began efforts to bring the blaze under control. According to fire officials, while the fire has been partially contained from the outside, thick smoke and flames inside the building are still hampering operations. So far, no casualties have been reported.
Fire Service officials said the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage will be determined after an investigation. Locals suspect that stored fabrics and finished garments inside the factory helped the fire spread rapidly. However, a major tragedy was averted as workers were evacuated quickly.
