Vice President of Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS) Li Kaisheng paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam in a meeting room adjacent to his office on Tuesday.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on further strengthening academic and research cooperation between Dhaka University and various higher education and research institutions in China.
During the meeting, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam said that in recent times, Dhaka University's communication and cooperation with various universities and research institutions in China has increased. He emphasized on making these relations more institutionalized and effective in the future.
During this time, the expansion of Chinese language and China-related research at Dhaka University and the possibility of establishing a specialized center in this regard were also discussed.
Li Kaisheng, Vice President of Shanghai Institute for International Studies, expressed his institution's interest in further expanding academic ties with Dhaka University. He said that it is necessary to further expand opportunities for higher education, research, knowledge and experience exchange based on the long-standing friendly relations between China and Bangladesh.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed joint research, exchange of researchers and young academics, short and long-term academic visits, Chinese language education and joint programs in various fields. In addition, views were exchanged on determining the necessary infrastructure and space for future research on China at Dhaka University and formulating a plan for possible cooperation.
Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam said that Dhaka University is giving importance to expanding international academic cooperation. He mentioned that it is possible to create new opportunities for cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutions in various areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Provost of Dhaka University's Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall Prof Dr. Md. Rakibul Haque, Lecturer at the Institute of Modern Languages Aga Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Director of the Center for International Discourse Innovation Studies Dr. Juan Zeng and concerned officials were present.
