Road Transport Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam calls for stronger int'l coop in sustainable infrastructure at GICC

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping Sheikh Robiul Alam, MP, called for strengthening international cooperation to build sustainable, resilient, and inclusive infrastructure on Tuesday.
Speaking at the opening session of the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) 2026 in Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday, the Minister noted that infrastructure development serves as a primary foundation for economic growth, regional connectivity, social development, and improving public living standards.
The three-day conference, organized by South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and managed by the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), opened under the theme "Cooperation on Global Infrastructure Projects Opened by AI." Ministers, senior government officials, multilateral development institutions, and representatives from global construction and engineering firms attended the event.
During his opening address on Tuesday, Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam stressed the integration of modern technology, knowledge, and technical expertise alongside capital investments to create climate-resilient infrastructure.
Highlighting prospective investment routes, the Minister expressed Bangladesh's interest in deepening collaboration with South Korea and other international partners through Government-to-Government (G2G) frameworks, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), concessional financing, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
