Info secy calls for collective efforts to tackle dengue situation

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana on Monday called for making collective efforts to tackle national crises like dengue.
“It is not merely a health issue, it is a humanitarian and social issue for all of us,” she said while speaking as the chief guest at an online view-exchange meeting with information officers at Mass Communication Department here.
The meeting focused on strengthening grassroots-level special publicity activities to make the “Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026” successful.
Farjana said alongside the government, the participation of public representatives, Rover Scouts, Girl Guides, the Red Crescent, volunteer organizations and ordinary citizens is essential to combat dengue.
She said publicity action plan would be carried out in line with the Prime Minister’s directives for conducting a three-month nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign.
Under the crash programme, waste and garbage must be removed, stagnant water cleared, and the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes must be prevented, she said.
He asked the information officers to continue their efforts to make people aware while also involving and motivating them to ensure the success of dengue prevention activities.
She also instructed the officials to work in coordination with deputy commissioners and local administrations.
Additional Secretary KM Abdul Wadud chaired the meeting while Additional Secretary Md. Shah Alam also spoke.
Mass Communication Department director general SM Abdur Rahman delivered the welcome address while officials concerned joined the meeting.
