Staff Correspondent

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced that the 250-bed TB Hospital in Shyamoli will soon be transformed into the National Tuberculosis Control Institute and Hospital.

The State Minister, who also serves as the President of the Hospital Management Committee, disclosed the government initiative while addressing a management committee meeting held at the hospital’s conference room in Shyamoli as chief guest on Monday.

Bobby Hajjaj stated that the upgrade would expand diagnostic capacity, advanced research, professional medical training, and specialized treatment facilities for tuberculosis care nationwide.

Highlighting operational challenges, the State Minister pledged to address manpower shortages by coordinating with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to fill vacant positions for physicians, administrative staff, and health employees.

During his visit, Bobby Hajjaj inspected various wards, assessed patient care operations, and reviewed sanitation conditions, medicine supply, and healthcare delivery.

The meeting was chaired by Hospital Management Committee Member Secretary and Deputy Director Dr. Ayesha Akhter, with representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the Department of Social Services, hospital staff, and health-sector journalists in attendance.
