Dhaka District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom urged high-achieving students to utilize their intellect and technical capabilities for national development rather than seeking foreign opportunities.

She made the remarks as chief guest during a reception ceremony held on Sunday at the Dhaka District Commissioner's office conference room, organized to honor 13 children of officers and employees serving under the deputy commissioner's administration who achieved GPA-5 in the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations.

Addressing the awardees, Farida Khanam highlighted that achieving academic distinction is a initial milestone rather than a final destination. Encouraging students to become innovators and job creators rather than mere employment seekers, she advised the youth to build domestic technological self-reliance instead of depending on foreign technology.

Citing international icons of Bangladeshi origin such as structural engineer Dr. F.R. Khan, YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim, Khan Academy founder Salman Khan, and physicist Dr. Zahid Hasan, the Deputy Commissioner asserted that Bangladeshi intellect knows no boundaries. She urged the next generation to strive toward making "Made in Bangladesh" high-tech products and institutions globally recognized.

The ceremony was attended by Additional District Magistrate (General) Farzana Rahman, Additional District Magistrate (Education and ICT) Shamima Sultana, Staff Officer to DC Md. Israfil Jahan, alongside the parents and guardians of the felicitated students.
