Road renovation brings relief to residents, commuters in Dimla

Dense carpeting work has officially begun on the important Baburhat–Dalia Regional Highway via Shutibari in Dimla upazila of Nilphamari, is bringing relief to local residents, traders and commuters.
The carpeting work, involving 40mm and 25mm layers, was inaugurated on Tuesday (September 22) in the presence of officials concerned.
Among those present were Executive Engineer Md. Shamim Akhter, Upazila Engineer Mofizur Rahman, Sub-Assistant Engineer Bazlur Rahman, Work Assistant Rafiqul Islam and Konok Babu, along with other officials concerned.
The road rehabilitation work is being implemented by M/s Siddhi Engineering, with Taslim Akhter Sukhi serving as the representative responsible for execution of the project.
The Baburhat–Dalia road is considered an important communication route in Dimla. A large number of people and various types of vehicles use the road every day. It also plays a significant role in the transportation of agricultural products and in supporting trade and commerce in Shutibari and surrounding areas.
For a long time, several sections of the road had required rehabilitation, causing difficulties for commuters and increasing travel time and transportation costs. The newly started dense carpeting work is expected to improve road connectivity and make travel safer and more convenient.
Local traders and commuters expressed hope that completion of the work would reduce transportation difficulties and accelerate business activities and the movement of agricultural and other goods in Shutibari and adjoining areas.
The concerned engineering officials said the contractor has been given necessary instructions to carry out the work according to the approved design and required standards. They also emphasized ensuring the quality of the work and completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.
