Minister, State Minister visit Sitakot Buddhist Monastery in Nawabganj

Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain and State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam visited the Sitakot Buddhist Monastery, a historical and archaeological site in Nawabganj Upazila of Dinajpur.
They visited the historic Sitakot Buddhist Monastery at 12 noon on Saturday.
During this time, the Minister and State Minister visited various structures and archaeological sites in Bihar and inquired about their historical importance.
Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Police Md. Zedan Al Musa BPM, Nawabganj Upazila Executive Officer Bidhan Kanti Halder, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Saif Uddin, Director General of the Department of Archaeology Sabina Alam and Director of the Rangpur Regional Office Dr. Ahmed Abdullah along with concerned officials were present during the inspection.
Sitakot Buddhist Monastery is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Dinajpur region. Although visitors come from various places to see this ancient structure, locals believe that its potential is not being fully utilized due to the lack of adequate infrastructure, publicity and tourism facilities.
Locals claim that if the historic Sitakot Buddhist Monastery is developed into an attractive tourist center in a planned manner, it will increase the number of domestic and foreign tourists.
