Protest rally, public gathering held in Gaibandha demanding implementation of July Charter, Referendum verdict

A protest rally and public gathering were held in Gaibandha on Saturday afternoon under the initiative of the Gaibandha District unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, demanding the implementation of the July Charter and the people's verdict expressed through the referendum.
Leaders and activists gathered at the Shaheed Minar premises of Gaibandha Municipal Park before joining the rally. A large number of party leaders and activists from all seven upazilas of the district participated in the procession.
The gathering was attended as chief guest by Abdul Karim Sarkar, MP, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Gaibandha District.
The meeting was chaired by Maulana Nazrul Islam, MP, District Political Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, and moderated by Acting District Secretary Syed Rokonuzzaman.
Among those who addressed the gathering were District Nayeb-e-Ameer and freedom fighter Md. Abdul Warech, MP; Prof Md. Majedur Rahman, MP; Islami Chhatra Shibir Gaibandha District Secretary Md. Fahim Mondol; District Assistant Secretary and Jamaat-nominated Gaibandha Municipality mayoral candidate Faisal Kabir Rana; District Labour Welfare President Nurunnabi Pradhan; District Ulama President Maulana Saidur Rahman, and others..
Also present were Professor A.K.M. Ferdous Alam, Ameer of Gaibandha Municipal Jamaat; Sadar Upazila Ameer Maulana Nurul Islam Mondol; Sundarganj Upazila Ameer Shahidul Islam Monju; Gobindaganj Upazila Ameer Abul Hossain; Sadullapur Upazila Ameer Ershadul Haque Iman; Saghata Upazila Ameer Maulana Ibrahim Hossain; Phulchhari Upazila Ameer Maulana Sirajul Islam Akand, along with district and upazila-level leaders.
Speakers at the rally demanded a fair trial for those responsible for the July killings, proper recognition and honour for the martyrs, and the swift implementation of the people's verdict obtained through the referendum.
They alleged that the BNP government is attempting to govern the country in a manner similar to a fascist regime and asserted that no new fascist government would be allowed to emerge in Bangladesh.
