Two more development projects inaugurated in Dimla

Two major development projects aimed at improving education and communication infrastructure, along with the distribution of assistance under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), were officially inaugurated in Dimla Upazila of Nilphamari on Friday.
The programmes included the inauguration of a newly constructed two-storey academic building at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Zia Degree College and the formal launch of the construction of the Tuhin Embankment Road from Dalia Main Canal to East Baishpukur (Chainage: 00–2630 metres).
The projects were inaugurated by Engineer Shahriar Islam (Tuhin), Member of the BNP National Executive Committee and former Member of Parliament.
Addressing a discussion meeting held on the college campus, Engineer Shahriar Islam said that quality education and modern communication systems are the foundations of national development. He noted that improved educational infrastructure enhances the quality of education, while better road connectivity plays a vital role in agriculture, trade, commerce and the overall socio-economic development of the region.
Special guest and MP for Nilphamari-1, Rehana Akter Ranu, said that such development initiatives in the education and communication sectors would significantly improve the living standards of local people. She stressed the importance of ensuring the proper implementation and long-term sustainability of the projects.
Principal of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Zia Degree College, Monowar Hossain, said the newly constructed academic building would provide students with a modern learning environment and contribute to improving the overall quality of education.
Among others, Raisul Alam Chowdhury, Setara Sultana, Ariful Islam Liton and Golam Rabbani Pradhan Enam also addressed the gathering.
Later, Engineer Shahriar Islam inaugurated the distribution of essential items under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. The assistance was provided to destitute women, persons with physical disabilities and community clinics in Dimla Upazila.
MP Rehana Akter Ranu attended the distribution programme as the special guest. Local public representatives, officials of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies, teachers, students and distinguished local residents were also present.
Following the ceremony, the guests inspected the newly constructed academic building, the road construction site and the ADP distribution activities. They emphasized completing the development projects within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining the highest construction standards.
