PM like Sheikh Hasina was born because power was unbalanced, unlimited :Prof Mia Golam Parwar

Nilphamari Correspondent

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that the constitution had an unbalanced and unlimited power for the Prime Minister, which is why a fascist Prime Minister like Sheikh Hasina was born. We want to make such a constitution that whoever comes to power cannot be born as another Hasina. Therefore, we do not want amendment of the constitution, but reform. There is still time to solve this in parliament, avoiding conflict.

He made this statement while exchanging views with journalists at the hall of Nilphamari Al Helal Academy on Friday morning.

Mia Golam Parwar said that after the BNP formed the government, an authoritarian mentality has been created among them. The way BNP has turned its back on the promise made to the nation by breaking its promise and turning its back on it, has led the country towards a conflict. We were hoping that all issues including the July Charter, reforms and constitutional reform would be brought to parliament and that they would resolve this crisis by discussing with the opposition parties, come out of the conflict situation and save the nation. But they did not do that.

He said that the people of Bangladesh have now agreed to implement the verdict of the referendum held on the basis of the July Charter. 70 percent of the people voted yes. BNP said in the first phase of their 31-point manifesto that if we come to power, we will form a commission to reform the constitution. Now they are saying that we will form a commission for amendments, not for reforms. There is a difference between reform and amendment. BNP is confusing the people. Amendments are small corrections or changes in sentences, words or some statements. This was not the aim and spirit of the July Movement. We want the entire structure of the constitution to be changed. There must be philosophical and characteristic changes.
He also said that BNP believes that if the referendum verdict is implemented and the constitution is structurally changed, then BNP will no longer be able to take the country towards fascism by appointing party members to all constitutional positions with party affiliation, corruption and the Prime Minister having unlimited power. That is why BNP wants to keep their Prime Minister authoritarian.

Regarding the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan, he said that the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan is a long-standing demand of the people of the northern region. If it is implemented, the people of this region will benefit in many ways.

Among others present at the exchange of views with journalists were Muhammad Abdur Rashid, team member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Rangpur-Dinajpur region, Muhammad Abdur Rashid, MP of Nilphamari-1 constituency and District Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Abdus Sattar, District Jamaat Secretary Maulana Antazul Islam, MP of Nilphamari-3 constituency Principal Obaidullah Salafi, MP of Nilphamari-4 constituency Hafez Abdul Muntakim, Assistant Secretary of District Jamaat Professor Anwarul Islam, Campaign Secretary Lecturer Chader Hossain, District Working Committee members and mayoral candidates of Nilphamari Municipality Freedom Fighters Moniruzzaman Montu and Abdul Kadim, Sadar Upazila Ameer Maulana Abu Hasifa Shah, City Jamaat Secretary Advocate Anisur Rahman Azad. Etc.
Earlier, Professor Mia Golam Parwar spoke as the chief guest on the concluding day of a two-day education camp for Upazila Jamaat working committee members organized by the District Jamaat at the same venue at 9 am on Friday.
