At present, one kilogram of hilsa is being sold at Machghat, Chandpur boro station, at Tk 2,400 to Tk 2,500, which was Tk 1,700 to Tk 1,800 a week ago. Besides, the price of hilsa weighing more than 1 kg is selling from 2 thousand 800 taka to 3 thousand taka. Buyers are angry at the fire price of hilsa.

Meanwhile, even in the full season of hilsa, fishermen in Padma-Meghna of Chandpur are not catching the desired hilsa. Because of which, the supply of hilsa has decreased in Barstation Machghat, one of the largest hilsa retail and wholesale markets in the country, for a few days. Previously, 500-700 maunds of hilsa were supplied daily in Machghat, but currently the supply of hilsa is less than 100 maunds. Due to which the price of hilsa increased by 500-600 taka per kg.

Hilsa price has been recorded at Chandpur station Machghat. The price of Hilsa per kg has increased by Tk 500-600. Traders and buyers said that such prices have never happened before in the history of Chandpur.

Hilsa buyer Iqbal said, I have never seen such a price of hilsa at Machghat in Chandpur. I also buy to sell online myself. But now the context is different. It is not possible to buy hilsa at such a price.

Hilsa trader Kamal Hossain said that the supply of hilsa in Machghat has decreased a lot. There is no hilsa according to demand. That's why the price is high. 500-600 taka increased per kg. I have been doing business for a long time. There are supposed to be many buyers at this time. But because of the price, there are no buyers.

Abdul Bari Manik Jamadar, President of Chandpur Fish Traders Association, said that the sale of all types of fish is prohibited at the Fish Ghat from October 13. Now the work is supposed to be more, but the hilsa is less. Due to this, the price has also been recorded.
