Dhaka district administration has taken a major initiative to organize a large-scale job fair aimed at expanding employment opportunities for the youth. Alongside direct job placements, the event will focus on skill development, vocational training, and offering support to aspiring entrepreneurs.

To ensure the effective implementation of this initiative, an 11-member coordination committee has been formed.

The decision was finalized on Monday during a coordination meeting between the Dhaka district administration and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The meeting was chaired by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Farida Khanam, with representatives from various national and international NGOs and private development organizations in attendance.

Addressing the session, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam emphasized that NGOs play a vital role alongside the government in building an equitable, humane, and advanced society. However, she underscored the necessity of maintaining transparency, accountability, and good governance in all public welfare activities.

"The district administration must be kept regularly informed about which projects are being executed by specific NGOs in different areas and how these initiatives are impacting people's lives," she stated. She also highlighted the importance of identifying successful field-level initiatives and fostering mutual experience-sharing among organizations.

Following deliberations on youth employment and capacity building, the meeting unanimously decided to conduct the job fair with joint NGO participation.

The newly formed 11-member coordination committee will oversee the selection of participating organizations, identify immediate job vacancies, structure training and skill enhancement programs, and outline support mechanisms for entrepreneurs. The committee has also been tasked with finalizing the venue and schedule while drafting a comprehensive action plan without delay.

The meeting also placed strong emphasis on engaging NGOs in dengue prevention efforts.

The Deputy Commissioner noted that a coordinated approach involving local administration, local government bodies, the health sector, NGOs, and the general public is essential to combat the vector-borne disease. She urged stakeholders to work systematically toward establishing 'Dengue-Free Zones' in designated high-risk areas.

Reiterating her commitment, Farida Khanam said the ultimate goal is to bring visible and sustainable changes to citizens' lives. She assured that the district administration will extend all necessary support to joint initiatives focusing on job creation, skill refinement, public health protection, and social safety.
