 Maulana Saleh Ahmed Hamidi, a UK-expatriate Islamic scholar originating from Baruna village in Sreemangal upazila, has been silently leading extensive humanitarian endeavors assisting impoverished populations across Bangladesh and several African nations through his registered charity organization.

Beginning his humanitarian initiatives in 2007 by founding the 'Goreeb and Otim Trust Fund' , he established the Najat Islamic Markaz to improve living conditions for underprivileged families. Supported by donations from Bangladeshi expatriates living in the UK, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, the foundation has delivered housing construction, deep tubewell installations, mosque developments, sewing machines, wheelchairs, fishing boats, and disaster relief across Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sylhet, and Sunamganj districts, as well as northern districts including Lalmonirhat, Bagerhat, Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Kurigram.

Expanding his outreach internationally, Mawlana Hamidi has extended humanitarian relief to vulnerable communities in African countries including Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, and The Gambia. Recently, he also provided Tk 20 lakh in emergency aid to Nepal while pledging support to construct a large madrasa in Kathmandu.

During a view-exchange meeting with Moulvibazar journalists held on Sunday at the main office of Najat Islamic Markaz in the Bhairab Bazar area of Sreemangal, Maulana Hamidi briefed media professionals on the foundation's operations and achievements.

Addressing the journalists , Maulana Hamidi said,  the Najat Markaz facility currently operates a Hifz and Qawmi madrasa, Najat Model School, a vocational training center, adult education programs, and specialized Braille-based Quranic education with free accommodation for visually impaired individuals. 

He highlighted that through 2025, the trust constructed 155 mosques, built houses for 1,000 homeless families, installed 4,022 tubewells, distributed over 10,000 wheelchairs, provided self-reliance tools to approximately 5,000 families, extended food relief to over 15,000 disaster-affected families, and developed a large central graveyard across nearly 10 kani of land.

Maulana Hamidi affirmed that all charitable operations and financial allocations strictly adhere to domestic regulatory frameworks, maintaining complete financial transparency while relying on contributions from expatriates and well-wishers worldwide.
