EC resumes voter address transfer services

The Election Commission (EC) has restarted the voter transfer services which have remained suspended since September 10 last.
Earlier on September 02, the Election Commission directed its field-level officials to dispose of the applications over the transfer of voter address by September 10 last ahead of the local government elections.
As the local government election schedule is being delayed, the EC on Wednesday sent a letter to the Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing, regional election officers and district election officers, instructing them to resume the voter transfer services, said EC officials.
According to the letter, field-level offices were earlier instructed through a letter issued on September 2 to settle applications for voter transfer due to changes in residential addresses by September 10.
The commission has now decided to resume voter transfer activities at field-level offices.
The letter further instructed the field-level offices to receive applications for voter transfers as before and complete the necessary verification, processing and disposal of the applications.
