 Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)  on Wednesday  conducted an eviction drive targeting illegal shops, commercial establishments, structures, and hawkers encroaching upon roads and footpaths in the city's Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, and Mirpur-1 areas.

A 30-member team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar Battalion (41 BN) was deployed to maintain law and order and ensure security throughout the operation, which aimed to restore discipline on busy thoroughfares and ensure unhindered pedestrian movement.

The eviction drive commenced around 8:30 AM, under the direction of the DNCC Administrator and was led by Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nelly. The drive covered both sides of the roads and footpaths stretching from Farmgate through Zia Uddin Park, the Parliament building, Karwan Bazar, government staff quarters, and Paikpara to areas adjacent to Mirpur-1. Unauthorized billboards and unipole signs were removed alongside illegal roadside structures.

Under the instructions of Director (41 BN) Md. Jane Alam Sufian, Company Commander Md. Imam Mehedi led the Ansar Battalion detail, which included 10 armed personnel assigned to maintain order, protect operational staff, and facilitate traffic flow. They were assisted by 18 officers from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Ansar members detained three individuals in the Farmgate area on charges of non-cooperation with state duties under the magistrate's directive. Executive Magistrate Nelly subsequently fined two of the detainees Tk 10,000 each and the third person Tk 5,000, realizing a total of Tk 25,000 in administrative fines.
