Serveral hurt in NCP-JCD clash : MP Hannan caught in chaos as law and order meeting turns violent in Hatiya

Tension flared in Noakhali’s Hatiya on Thursday over recent parliamentary remarks made by local lawmaker Abdul Hannan Masud involving the BNP in regional ferry ghat issues.
Labeling the MP’s statements "false and misleading," anger among opposition activists erupted into heated arguments, chaos, and violent scuffles between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and NCP supporters around the monthly upazila law and order committee meeting.
During the commotion, MP Hannan Masud found himself caught in the hostility before local leaders and administration officials intervened. As clashes reignited outside the venue, the MP exited without delivering his speech and took shelter in the UNO office for nearly an hour. Several activists from both sides, including Juba Shakti Member Secretary Saiful Islam and several Chhatradal workers, were injured in the altercation. Additional incidents of assault were also reported across the upazila later in the day.
Hatiya Police Station OC Kabir Ahmed and UNO Russel Iqbal confirmed that the situation was brought under control and assured that strict legal action will follow a thorough investigation into the violence.
