Jamaat, NCP failing to gain recognition as opposition force : Momin Mahadi
Staff Correspondent
Chairman of Natun Dhara Bangladesh -NDB, Momin Mahadi, has said that Jamaat and the NCP are failing to gain public recognition as opposition parties and are therefore staging various incidents involving alleged attacks and legal cases while attempting to provoke the police and administration.
He further stated, "If anyone tries to place the events of July above the Liberation War of 1971, there will be resistance. The July movement that, in our view, enabled alleged war criminals to enter Parliament and darkened the future of students has already been rejected by the people."
He made these remarks on Thursday evening during a protest rally held in front of the party's office on Topkhana Road.
Speaking at the event, Momin Mahadi also alleged that educational institutions across the country had been handed over to extremist and militant groups in the name of the July movement.
Among those addressing the rally were Presidium Member and Freedom Fighter Fazlul Haq, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farjana, Vice Chairman Chandan Sengupta, and Joint Secretary General Wazed Rana.
The speakers further claimed that NCP leaders who, in their view, capitalized on the July movement to become Members of Parliament can no longer attract even 100 people to their rallies because the public has recognized what they described as deception.
The speakers also alleged that the influence of the July movement has significantly declined and claimed that people from all walks of life are now resisting those they accused of seeking power while undermining public security, freedom, education, and social values. They further asserted that Jamaat, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and the NCP are increasingly being denounced in different parts of Bangladesh as deceptive political forces.
