Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) have stepped forward on a voluntary basis to harvest and tend crops for a distressed farming family in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila following the sudden illness of its primary earner.
Md. Shahidul Islam, a farmer from Hariharpur village under Rohimanpur union, recently lost his mental balance, leaving him unable to work and putting his field crops—including jute—at risk. The situation plunged his family into severe financial crisis and uncertainty.
Upon learning of the family's plight, local allowance-receiving Ansar and VDP members immediately informed the district commandant. Under his guidance and supervision, a team of Ansar and VDP members, led by VDP team leader Mosammat Dilruba, voluntarily harvested the family's mature jute and planted new paddy seedlings across several plots.
The humanitarian initiative has revived the family's agricultural activities and brought renewed hope, prompting deep gratitude from the affected household. Local residents have also lauded the Ansar and VDP for standing by a vulnerable farmer in his time of need.
