Kurigram Correspondent
The Kurigram BDR Welfare Council has formed a human chain demanding fair investigation into the Pilkana murder, release of innocent jailed BDR members and reinstatement of all dismissed members in their jobs.
On Wednesday afternoon, members of the BDR Welfare Council formed a human chain at the Kurigram Central Shaheed Minar premises.
At the time, speakers said that on February 25 and 26, 2009, 18,519 members were sentenced to various terms in a planned mock trial in the name of rebellion in the Peelkhana murder. About 800 BDR members are waiting for death in prison. They demanded their immediate unconditional release and reinstatement in their jobs.
BDR member Akher Ali said, many of us have been dismissed despite being innocent. Still, about 800 BDRs are languishing in jail. They should be unconditionally released and reinstated in their jobs.
Hosne Ara Happy said, my father served 3 long years in prison despite not being involved in the Peelkhana murder. Later, he died in pain. I saw from my father how much pain and social humiliation my father was subjected to in this incident. I want no other BDR member to serve a sentence without a crime like my father. All of them should be given their jobs back.
Dismissed BDR members Md. Akher Ali, Md. Nuruzzaman Haque, Mostafa Kamal, Azad Ali and family members of BDR members spoke among others in the human chain.
