Handover of concept paper to expand 3rd language education program at DU Modern Languages Institute

The concept paper of the committee formed to expand and accelerate the third language education program at the Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka University was handed over to the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, who is on the routine duty of the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, on Wednesday.

. A delegation of the committee led by the convener of the committee, Dr. AKM Waliul Islam, an additional professor at the Institute of Modern Languages, handed over the concept paper this morning. The concept paper has made recommendations for the appointment of skilled and quality teachers in third languages in various institutes of Bangladesh, creation of employment opportunities for Bangladeshis abroad, and increasing their income and status.
A seminar will be held on September 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM in Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom to review this concept paper and formulate an action plan. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will be present as the chief guest in the seminar. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam will preside over the seminar, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojadeddi Alfesani and Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Prof Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel will be present as special guests.
The meeting highlighted the importance of third language education and reviewed the capacity of the Modern Language Institute in providing various language education including Arabic, French, Japanese, German, Chinese, Korean and English.
