Several news items published in various media outlets regarding the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) have come to the attention of the Dhaka University authorities. These news items are not in line with the prevailing laws, rules, policies and administrative structure of the university. The position of the university authorities in this regard is clear and unambiguous.

The Dhaka University administration has embraced and cherished the July Uprising. In continuation of this, on August 5, the foundation stone of the July Memorial was inaugurated in the university's courtyard to preserve the memory of the July Uprising. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, along with members of the university family and the families of the martyrs, inaugurated it.

According to Article 24(A) of Dhaka University Order, 1973, the responsibility of supervision, maintenance and control of the property of the university is vested in the Syndicate. On the other hand, according to the note to Section 4 of Chapter XIV of Dhaka University Ordinances and Regulations, any decision of the University Students' Union shall be taken subject to the directions of the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

But the memorial monument erected by Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) under the name 'Nirbik July' on the west side of DUCSU Bhavan adjacent to Kala Bhavan and in front of the Central Library was not erected without any permission or discussion from the Syndicate or the Vice-Chancellor of the university. This is beyond the jurisdiction of the university according to its own law.

The issue of displaying pictures of the then Governor General of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the then Student Union leader Abdul Malek in the DUCSU museum has also come to the attention of the university authorities. Displaying pictures of people who are in conflict with the language movement and the history of Bangladesh's independence in the university museum is in no way acceptable. Strict administrative action will be taken against those concerned as per the prevailing rules and regulations of the university.

In addition, DUCSU has launched a website without approval for evaluating university teachers, which is not in line with the university's policies and institutional processes. Teacher evaluation is a very important academic and institutional matter of the university. In this case, no individual, organization or student union can launch a separate evaluation system on their own initiative. At the same time, by launching this website, the personal information of teachers has also been brought out. Which is a punishable offense according to the law.

Dhaka University has its own policy for Teaching Evaluation and it has been approved at the highest level of the university. Which is on the way to implementation. As a result, the initiative to introduce a separate teacher evaluation system beyond the approved policy is not acceptable. This is tantamount to tarnishing the reputation of the university. In such a situation, such actions of DUCSU are undesirable, unexpected and unacceptable.

Dhaka University authorities are clearly stating that there is no scope for establishing any kind of dual administration in the university. Although DUCSU is an important student representative institution, all its activities must be conducted within the university's laws, rules, policies and administrative structure. Any attempt to establish any parallel structure or process bypassing the university's administrative authority will be strictly resisted.

Dhaka University authorities will not compromise in protecting the institutional discipline of the university, the dignity of the history of the Language Movement of Bangladesh and the Liberation War. If any initiative is taken to construct any establishment or introduce a separate administrative system without the approval of the university, strict administrative action will be taken against those concerned as per the prevailing rules.
