Continuous training vital for advanced ultrasonography services: BMU VC

Continuous professional training and academic excellence are essential to ensuring state-of-the-art ultrasonography services across Bangladesh, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Prof. Dr. F. M. Siddiqui said Friday.
He made the remarks as the chief guest while inaugurating the 38th National Conference and International Workshop of the Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (BSU) at a hotel in the city.
Themed "Ultrasound First, Ultrasound Last," the conference features active participation from the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology and the Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology.
Prof. Dr. F. M. Siddiqui noted that modern ultrasonography has become an indispensable component of diagnostic medicine and patient management. He emphasized that local physicians and Sonologists must continuously upgrade their skills to maintain high service standards and align national healthcare with global advancements.
Presiding over the inaugural session, BSU President Prof. Dr. Raihan Hussain stated that since its establishment in 1989, the society has been expanding ultrasound services nationwide. He highlighted that BSU currently operates six training institutes across the country and urged medical universities and the government to introduce advanced academic courses to elevate diagnostic education.
BSU Vice President and Director of the National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS) Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Fazlul Bari reported that over 200 sonologists from across Bangladesh, alongside international experts from Vietnam, Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka, are attending the conference and workshop.
Director General of the Directorate General of Health Education Prof. Dr. Nazmul Hossain attended as a special guest. Former Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Prof. Dr. M. A. Karim, BSU Founder President Prof. Dr. Fauzia Moslem, and BSU General Secretary Prof. Dr. Shankar Kumar Biswas were among the key speakers at the event
