A seminar titled “Cybersecurity in the Digital Era and Future Careers” was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Bangladesh Army University of Engineering & Technology (BAUET) on Sunday, 25 October 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Panorama Building of the university. The Honorable Vice Chancellor of BAUET, Brigadier General S M Lutfor Rahman, attended the seminar as the Chief Guest.

The program began with a welcome address delivered by Associate Professor Ananya Sarker, Head of the Department of CSE. The seminar was conducted by Samiha Jahan Fariha, a student of the CSE Department.

Md. Sanowar Hossain, Chief Information Security Officer of Mutual Trust Bank PLC, attended the seminar as the Resource Person and delivered the keynote presentation. He highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in the digital era, emerging cyber threats and risks in today's technology-driven world, protection of personal and institutional information, and potential career opportunities in the cybersecurity sector. He also provided valuable guidance on the necessary skills, preparation, and professional development required to build a successful career in this rapidly growing field.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students about cybersecurity, promote the safe and responsible use of digital technologies, and provide practical insights into higher education, research opportunities, and professional skill development in the field of cybersecurity. The organizers expressed optimism that such initiatives would play a significant role in preventing cybercrime, ensuring information security, and developing skilled human resources for the technology-driven workforce.

A total of 170 students, including 140 from the Department of CSE and 30 from the Department of Law and Justice, participated in the seminar, along with faculty members and concerned officials.

At the concluding session, the Chief Guest presented a commemorative crest to the Resource Person in recognition of his valuable contribution to the seminar. He also distributed crests and certificates among the winners of the Programming Competition held on 28 September 2026. Mostakin Abedin of the CSE Department received the Champion's Award, while Dibosh Sarker and Muhib Muhtasin Biswas received the First Runner-up and Second Runner-up Awards, respectively.

Among others, Colonel Hla Han Maung, PBGMS (Retd.), Acting Treasurer and Controller of Examinations; Colonel Dewan Md. Liaqat Ali (Retd.), Registrar; Prof Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science & Humanities and Law; Prof Dr. Mohammad Nurul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Prof Mohammad Golam Sarwar Bhuyan, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE); Heads of Departments, faculty members, and university officials were present at the seminar.
