Govt takes strict action against headmistress over embezzlement of school feeding food in Barishal

The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has reiterated the government's zero-tolerance stance against any form of irregularity and corruption in the 'School Feeding' program, which is designed to ensure student nutrition and improve the quality of primary education.
As part of this strict position, the Barishal District Primary Education Office issued an official order on Sunday demanding an urgent explanation from Reshma Akter, the acting headmistress of Ranirhat Government Primary School in Bakerganj upazila of Barisal, over specific allegations of embezzling school feeding supplies.
The incident occurred on June 25, 2026, when the headmistress allegedly took 24 eggs and 22 packets of biscuits, allocated for the student feeding program, to her personal residence after school hours. The matter came to the attention of the directorate after objective reports of the incident went viral on social media platforms like Facebook and were subsequently covered by various print and electronic media outlets.
The Directorate of Primary Education stated that any attempt to misappropriate or mishandle food allocated for the nutrition of tender-aged children in government primary schools will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In the show-cause notice signed by the District Primary Education Officer, the accused teacher has been directed to appear in person and submit a satisfactory explanation within three working days
