Case filed against 3 after liquor, foreign currency seized at Sunamganj border

Police have filed a case against three alleged drug traffickers, including a woman, following the seizure of foreign liquor, beer, and foreign currency from the Borgop Tila area near the Chanpur border in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj.
The case was formally recorded on Sunday morning after law enforcers finalized the seizure list.
The accused have been identified as Jamena Khatun, wife of Ali Rahman from Borgop Tila village under North Bardal union, and her two fugitive accomplices, Rafiqul Islam, son of Kala Miah, and Sadir Miah, son of Abdul Khalek, from the same village. Jamena, who was apprehended by local residents on Saturday night, was produced before a Sunamganj court on Sunday noon, which subsequently ordered her to be sent to jail.
According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam, the in-charge of the Tekerghat temporary police camp, locals caught Jamena Khatun red-handed at her residence on Saturday night while she and her associates were actively buying and selling illegal substances. Although Jamena was detained by the crowd, her two accomplices managed to slip away and evade capture. Upon being informed, a police team rushed to the scene late Saturday night, took her into custody, and seized 17 bottles of foreign liquor, 14 cans of beer, alongside an undisclosed amount of Bangladeshi and foreign currencies.
