Govt committed to ensuring quality education, building prosperous hill tracts region: CHT Minister Saching Prue

Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Saching Prue Jery, MP, has stated that the current government is an education-friendly administration and will work tirelessly for the overall development of education. Emphasizing that quality education will be prioritized not just in specific areas but across the entire Hill Tracts region, the Minister made these remarks while addressing an event in Bandarban.
On Wednesday, the Bandarban Municipality organized a reception at the Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium to honor 90 resilient and meritorious students who achieved GPA-5 in the 2026 SSC and Dakhil examinations. Speaking as the chief guest, Minister Saching Prue MP advised students to be more attentive to their studies and urged them to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country and the nation through proper education.
He further noted that arranging scholarships through various organizations to encourage talented students is a wonderful initiative, as it fosters a healthy competitive spirit and helps students achieve greater academic success.
Presided over by Bandarban Municipality Administrator S. M. Monjurul Haque, the reception ceremony was attended by Additional District Commissioner Sajib Kanti Rudra, Bandarban Cantonment Public School and College Principal Lt. Col. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Khan, and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Marufa Sultana Khan Hiramoni as special guests. Senior officials from various government institutions, teachers, guardians, and the honored students were also present, receiving crests, certificates, and cash awards from the guests.
Prior to the reception, Minister Saching Prue MP held a morning exchange meeting with officials and employees at the Bandarban Municipality auditorium. Emphasizing administrative efficiency and service standards, he noted that Bandarban Municipality is the core region and plays an undeniable role in tourism expansion, requiring transparency, accountability, and staff efficiency.
During the meeting, the municipal administrator reported that despite holding first-class status, the municipality operates with only 32 personnel alongside 127 vacant posts, while also outlining project needs for filling vacancies, road repairs, modern lighting, and waste and water treatment plants.
In the afternoon, the Minister participated as chief guest in another inter-agency meeting with government officials at the Bandarban Deputy Commissioner's office, where free books were distributed among poor higher-education students of the district. The meeting covered family card distributions, the Primary School Gold Cup tournament, Natun Kuri registration, Nazrul Year 2026 celebrations, canal excavation, Prime Minister's priority projects, law and order, and filling teacher vacancies.
