Coast Guard seized huge quantity of chemical fertilizer destined for Myanmar

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 410 sacks of urea fertilizer worth approximately Tk 14.35 lakh, which was being illegally smuggled to Myanmar.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, Media Officer of the Coast Guard said this in a press release to the media on Tuesday noon
Acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Station Bhatiary at the Barabakunda Ghat area under Sitakunda police station in Chattogram at 1:00 AM on Tuesday. During the drive, law enforcement searched a suspicious cargo boat and recovered 410 sacks of urea fertilizer intended for illegal smuggling to Myanmar, along with the boat used for the operation.
Smugglers managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, and no arrests could be made during the raid.
Legal procedures regarding the seized fertilizer and the confiscated boat have bern taken.
