Former UP member hacked to death in Tangail

Miscreants hacked to death a former UP member named Chorman Reza (38) at the abandoned petrol pump of former Tangail 2 MP Tanvir Hasan Chhota Monir in the bypass area of Tangail city and fled.
He is a former UP member of Ward No. 7 of Gala Union in Tangail Sadar Upazila. The deceased's brother claims that Chorman Reza was involved in active politics with top leaders of the district Awami League in the past.
District police said he may have been hacked to death at an abandoned petrol pump around 1:30 pm on Sunday. However, it was not immediately known why or who committed the murder.
Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to the Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Sadar Circle HM Mahbub Rezwan Siddiqui said that efforts are being made to uncover the cause of the murder, identify those involved and bring them to justice as soon as possible.
