CHT Minister seeks LGD support for remote infrastructure, environmental protection

Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Saching Prue, MP, sought cooperation from the Local Government Division (LGD) to improve communication and road infrastructure in remote hilly regions while preserving the environment and nature of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The CHT Minister made the request during a courtesy call with Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, MP, at the latter's office in the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.

 Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan extended a warm welcome to Saching Prue, prince of the historic Bohmong Circle in Bandarban, upon his arrival at the ministry.

During the meeting, both ministers held cordial discussions regarding inter-ministerial collaboration to accelerate regional development. Highlighting the present administration's commitment to enhancing transport networks nationwide, CHT Minister Saching Prue commended the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) under the LGD for its vital role in supplying safe drinking water across the Hill Tracts.

Detailing regional challenges, Minister Saching Prue noted that many roads in remote terrain remain unpaved, causing severe hardship for hardworking local residents during the monsoon season. Welcoming the initiative, 

Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan assured full support.
