Muzibur Rahman Patwary, Chandpur

Mohammad Kamal Hossain, an academic, businessman, and politician hailing from Chandpur, currently serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Dhaka-5 (Jatrabari-Demra) constituency.

Born on June 5, 1976, in Suchipara village under Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur district, Mohammad Kamal Hossain was raised in a Muslim family. His father, the late Mawlana Abul Khayer, was an Islamic scholar and teacher, while his mother was a homemaker. In his personal life, he is married and the father of three children.

Mohammad Kamal Hossain completed his Bachelor’s (Honours) and Master’s degrees in Statistics from Jagannath University, later earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Bangladesh Islamic University (BIU). Recognized for his debating skills during his student years, he began his political journey with Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, holding various responsibilities, including President of Dhaka City East and member of the Central Executive Council. Professionally, he initially served as an official at Bangladesh Islamic University before transitioning into business and active social service.

In 2007, he formally joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He subsequently served as Motijheel Thana Ameer and currently serves as Assistant Secretary of Dhaka City South and member of the Central Majlis-e-Shura. In the 13th National Parliamentary Election held in 2026, he was elected to Parliament from the Dhaka-5 constituency.

In his constituency, MP Mohammad Kamal Hossain has launched several civic and public welfare initiatives, including opening three free medical centers under Ward No. 70 to provide expert consultation and medicines to local residents. His office is actively engaged in administrative and social drives to combat narcotics, extortion, and illegal street or stand occupations, while addressing public infrastructure challenges, including waterlogging and road development across Jatrabari and Demra.
