Coast Guard rescued critically ill pregnant woman from launch following emergency hotline call

Munshiganj  Correspondent

The Bangladesh Coast Guard rendered immediate medical assistance and emergency evacuation for a critically ill pregnant woman aboard a passenger launch following a call to the Coast Guard emergency service number 16111.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon informed this in a press release  on Sunday afternoon.

According to Coast Guard officials, a passenger accompanied his ill pregnant wife aboard the vessel MV Doel Pakhi-10 traveling from Bhola toward Dhaka for specialized medical treatment on Saturday afternoon. At around 7:30 PM, as the launch reached the waters adjacent to the Munshiganj launch terminal, the patient's physical condition deteriorated severely. The master of the launch immediately dialed the Coast Guard emergency hotline 16111 seeking urgent medical support.

Upon receiving the emergency dispatch, a specialized medical team from Coast Guard Station Pagla deployed to the launch and administered emergency medical care on board. To facilitate rapid hospitalization, the patient was transported via a Coast Guard boat directly to the Sadarghat launch terminal in Dhaka, from where she was dispatched via easy-bike to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
